Warranty Exclusions and Limitations

The Royal, Venetian, Imperial, Victorian, Havana, Cherokee, and Olde Time Collections are subject to the warranty exclusions set out below. Warranties do not extend or cover scratches, dents or any noticeable markings caused by improper handling, installation, water damage, flooding, fires, furnitures, shoes of all types, pets, or insects. Regal Hardwoods will not warranty any product that is faulty from installation, environmental extremes, neglect, or improper storage of product. The sub-floor is the responsibility of the installer.

Regal Hardwoods authentic hand-scraped engineered wood flooring products relating to the sub-floor, in any manner, is not the responsibility of Regal Hardwoods and is not covered under the warranty. The finish wear surface must be easily noticeable and cover at least 15% of the total floor area for a claim to be considered. Any variation or reduction in gloss level will not be considered under this warranty. Small cracks that develop from improper moisture control, flooding, excessive drying, will not be covered under this warranty.

Hardwood flooring is made from natural products which have cells running parallel with the grain; therefore, all wood floors will expand and contract with the change of seasons. This cupping effect, expanding and contracting, is not covered under this warranty. It is recommended that you maintain a relative humidity of 40-60% in your home by using a humidifier and/or dehumidifier to minimize movement of your hardwood floor. Color variations are a natural occurrence in flooring due to age, species and exposure to ultraviolet sunlight. For this reason, you may encounter mild color variations from board to board, or when replacing damaged boards with new product.

Normal sunlight will cause fading/darkening, depending on the species of wood. Area rugs should be moved occasionally as they block sunlight and may give the appearance the floor is discoloring under the rug; this discoloring is not covered under warranty.

FAQs

Q1: Who is Regal Hardwoods?

A: We are a high quality hardwood flooring manufacture, dedicated to service and value. Regal distributes our own products to flooring dealers across the United States.

Q2: What makes Regal Hardwood products superior when compared to other hardwood flooring products?

A: Because Regal is the actual manufacture we are able to set and maintain extremely high quality standards for all of our products and by being the manufacture we are able to skip traditional broker / distribution fees providing substantial savings to the dealer and en3d user without sacrificing quality.

Q3: What are some of the advantages that Regal Hardwoods has that other companies do not?

A: Regal hardwoods goes above and beyond to insure the highest standards in the industry. *We use at least 8 to 10 coats of U.V. cured aluminum oxide with aluminum oxide in every coat. Our Titanium Shield finish enhances the grain and reduces visible scratches. *3 skilled craftsmen each with a different tool, creates a unique look by authentically hand scraping each plank *7ft boards in each box create a less busy effect by spacing out the joints *We use only hardwood cores to prevent denting, moisture absorption, expansion and contraction.

Q4: Why is Authentic hand scraped wood flooring better than machine scraped flooring?

A: Machine scraped wood flooring has a repetitive pattern creating a plastic or fake look. Most companies use this process when creating their “hand scraped” products to reduce cost. The repetitive pattern is usually not noticeable in a small sample but very apparent when installed in your home. Authentic hand scraped flooring is going to feel rich and look beautiful while adding value to any home.

Q5: Is hand scraped flooring just a trend or is it a popular flooring option that is here to stay?

A: Design research has told us that hand scraped wood flooring is not a fad and is here to stay. There are multiple reasons including the fact that flooring trends these days closely follow real estate trends. Being that most people live in their home on average from 5 to 7 years they want to invest in a flooring that is durable and easy to live on, so that when they decide to sell they do not have to allow for an allowance or have to pay for costly refinish repairs to fix the imperfections that will occur. Hand scraped floors have continued to gain popularity because they simply stay looking newer for longer and when they do get scratched it’s a very simple fix by using a stain marker or even a black sharpie. On top of being very durable, hand scraped hardwoods are also a great way to add value to any home thus making it easier to sell.

Q6: Which is better solid or engineered Hardwood flooring?

A: There is no question that engineered flooring is of a superior quality with many more benefits over the old fashion solid wood flooring. Engineered flooring is constructed in a cross grain pattern eliminating expansion and contraction thus reducing the chance that gapping will occur which is common in solid wood floors. Because of this stability it is unlikely that cupping and warping will occur which is also common in solid wood floors. Solid hardwood raises floors 1.5 inches and requires costly alterations including cutting doors / door jams, removing & resetting base boards, new threshold as well as a height difference between tile and carpet. Solid floors are nailed to plywood and are prone to squeak when nails rub.

Q7: Which is a better product a 3/8 inch 7ply or a ½ inch 5ply product?

A: With engineered hardwoods the # of plys determines the stability of the product, not the overall thickness. So a 3/8 inch, 7-ply hardwood core would be more stable than a 1/2 inch, 5-ply hardwood core.

Q8: What’s the difference between a hardwood core and a soft wood core?

A: A hardwood core is much more stable than soft wood providing superior dent resistance, structure stability and prevents moisture absorption. Most manufactures use poplar, compressed fiber board or other soft wood options to reduce cost as well as reduce weight allowing them to ship more do to freight restrictions.

Q9: Should I choose a site finished floor or a pre-finished aluminum oxide floor?

A: The only advantage to a site finished floor is that you can customize your color, but with so many pre-finished options today it is not necessary to go through the hassle of the sanding and finishing process. Site finished flooring uses a polyurethane finish with 2 or 3 coats that do not have aluminum oxide in them. On the average, site finished flooring will need recoating every 5 to 7 years to where pre-finished floors are guaranteed for at least 25 years. Site finished flooring carries no warranties on finish or structure. Site finished flooring also requires extensive cleaning and touchup painting from the sanding and staining process. Site finished floors also cure in an uncontrolled environment allowing for dust and trash to be trapped in the finish.

Q10: What is Aluminum oxide?

A: Al2O3 (Aluminum Oxide) is the 2nd hardest element found on earth next to diamonds. This abundant mineral is U.V. cured with poly urethane at 120 F. The Aluminum Oxide is lighter than the urethane which causes it to float to the top before it is dried. : The Al2O3 actually becomes the wear surface of the flooring creating an extremely hard finish. With Regal Hardwoods this process is repeated at least 8 times providing the leading finish in the industry. This allows us to give a minimum of 25 year finish warranty.

Q11: Are all aluminum oxide flooring products the same quality?

A: No, most manufactures only put the aluminum oxide in the top one or two coats, where as Regal puts the Aluminum Oxide in all 8 or 10 coats providing the industry’s leading finish.

Q12: What is Regal Hardwoods new Titanium Shield Finish?

A: The new Titanium Shield finish significantly reduces the white scratches that are prevalent in all aluminum oxide finishes. When an abrasive object is drug across the floor the polyurethane and aluminum oxide rubs together and creates a white powder. When you see this you know that the finish is doing its job and preventing you from digging into the wood or penetrating the stain. What we have done was enhance our mixture to include proprietary oil and water based polyurethane finish technology along with Aluminum Oxide in each coat. All Regal Products have a min of 8 to 10 coats of UV cured finish with aluminum oxide in each coat as opposed to only putting the Aluminum oxide in the top coat as many competing products have.

Q13: What are the benefits of the Titanium Shield Finish?

A: First, it noticeably reduces white scratches and creates more of a clear scratch under extreme abrasion. Second, it clarifies the finish eliminating any kind of haze which enhances the beauty of the grain. Lastly, grain texture of the wood is more apparent thereby enhancing the natural characteristics of the wood specie.

Q14: How do I care for my wood flooring?

A: Pre-finished floors are very simple to care for. You simply dust mop with a micro fiber cloth and use Bona-Kemi or comparable wood floor cleaner. Do not damp mop or wax pre-finished flooring. You also want to put felt pad on the bottoms of all your furniture even if they have plastic feet. Walk off mats at door ways are recommended to help trap dirt and grit.

Q15: What is the New Lacey Act Amendment about?

A: The New Lacey Act Amendments now makes it unlawful to import, export, transport, sell, receive, acquire, or purchase in interstate or foreign commerce any plant, with some limited exceptions, taken in violation of the laws of a U.S. State, or any foreign law that protects plants. Regal Hardwoods incorporates sustainable forestry practices and never condones illegal logging. We require all our raw material suppliers are FSC certified, meaning that they practice responsible forestry management as well as abide by the New Lacey Act Amendment regarding illegal logging.
